Pepe Escobar, Glenn Diesen: Iran’s Strategy of Attrition Warfare Against the US & Israel

(RAD: Before I comment on this discussion, allow me to observe something about Pepe Escobar that became very evident while listening to this discussion. Glenn Diesen is 47 & is a Norwegian political scientist with a PhD & has been interviewing many different people about world geopolitical issues. Pepe is 72 from Brazil & has been a foreign correspondent & independent geopolitical analyst for over 40yrs. He has traveled the world to better understand what is really happening & interviewed people at all levels. I've noticed that his insights are sought out by many, primarily because he understands history, culture & what is happening. He has learned from first hand experiences in the trenches & a desire to understand, rather that some advanced academic degree. Although Glenn has a PhD, he is constantly learning from others & trying to understand what is really going on. Notice how Glenn keeps asking Pepe for his insights & how Pepe is able to summarize things in a way that can be understood.
The US & Israel have been trying to destroy Iran for the past 47yrs. For over 20yrs, Iran has realized that they would eventually have to fight this war with Israel & the US, so they have been planning & implementing a strategy that would allow them to win. It is important to realize that Iran has been under sanctions & constant pressure from the US & Israel. They had to prepare in spite of the challenges.
Although Iran was winning in the 12-day war in 2025, they agreed to stop since they understood some weaknesses they needed to correct. They also realized that the US & Israel would come after them again, so they needed to prepare for this existential war. So when Israel & the US started this latest war with Iran, they were prepared. While the US & Israel expected that Iran would collapse in just a few days, Iran had prepared to a long war of attrition that they keep adjusting. The US & Israel nave NO plan B.
The US & Israel are already running out of defensive weapons, whereas Iran has plenty of offensive weapons that are stored underground with underground manufacturing constantly producing more. The US & Israel don't know where these facilities are located. Iran can now target anything without much resistance.
Since the US is using its many military bases in the Persian Gulf to launch attacks against Iran, Iran is systematically destroying these bases. One of their objectives is to force the US out of the Middle East. The US can either see the writing on the wall & leave, or have all of their bases destroyed.
The US is now finally being completely forced out of Iraq because of the resistance supporting Iran. The Iranians are effectively using PR (Public Relations) that is resonating with many around the world who are tired of the US & Israeli bully tactics. Iran is fighting for the entire Global South & the world. Russia & China will not let Iran fail & both are helping in many ways. Iran is shifting from a defensive posture to offensive. Although the Western media tries to say otherwise, Iran strives to kill the minimum number of innocent civilians. On the other hand, both Israel & the US are carpet bombing civilians, destroying hospitals, schools, residential living quarters, and infrastructures not related to war.
