Stanislav Krapivnik is a former U.S. Army officer, supply chain executive, and military-political expert currently based in Russia. Born in Lugansk during the Soviet era, he migrated to the United States as a child and was raised in the American South. He served in the U.S. Army, including a peacekeeping deployment to Bosnia, but left the military by 2004 due to disillusionment with the prospect of U.S. military operations in his homeland. After living in the U.S. and working in supply chain management, he returned to Russia in 2010 with his family.
Since then, Krapivnik has become a prominent public analyst and independent consultant, appearing frequently on Russian television and international media. He is known for his expertise in military affairs, NATO-Russia relations, Eurasian geopolitics, economic resilience under sanctions, and Russia’s industrial and agricultural development. He has also hosted interviews with notable figures, including Soviet VDV veterans and former U.S. military personnel, and contributes to platforms such as Glenn Diesen’s Greater Eurasia Podcast and ExitStrategyWorld.
Krapivnik has been vocal about the deepening strategic divergence between Russia and the West, arguing that the Ukraine War has led to a "permanent divorce" from Europe, while emphasizing Russia’s growing self-reliance and strategic alignment with China. He has also highlighted Russia’s successes in sectors like biotechnology—citing the Sputnik V vaccine—and the country’s economic adaptation to Western sanctions.
The Iranian military has strengthened its ties with Russia and China recently, as reports emerge that the U.S. is preparing to strike the Persian Gulf nation after disagreements in their latest round of talks. While China has refrained from deploying its troops outside of its sphere of influence, Iran and Russia are major allies, according to Russian military expert Stanislav Krapivnik. He speaks to Journalistically Speaking's Rick Sanchez about this growing alliance and why it is important amid a potential U.S. attack on Iran.
