Pepe Escobar, Nima Alkhorshid – Iran’s Resilience: Economic Sabotage & Hybrid War Repelled

by Dialogue Works Highlights [1-22-2026] Nima R. Alkhorshid(bio), Pepe Escobar(bio).

(RAD: If you aren't already familiar with Nima & Pepe, I would encourage you to read their bios posted above. Notice that Nima grew up in Iran, so he knows the culture & history. He went on to obtain a PhD in engineering & now lives in Brazil. He is back in Iran visiting family & friends and saw first hand how the peaceful protests were turned into vicious riots via outside forces.

Ordinary citizens in Iran are not allowed to have arms, therefore those arms were brought in from the outside. It was obvious that Israel was involved & it is likely that the CIA & MI6 were also. This all started when outsiders manipulated the exchange rate between the Iranian currency & the $dollar to cause their currency to be worth less for purchasing essential food & supplies. Then the infiltrators were told to instigate rioting, shooting citizens, police, and beheading people.

I even remember when Trump was encouraging the rioters to do more damage & attack the government, which Nima also reported. The US was trying to set up a pretext to justify invading Iran and trying to decapitate the government again, which is what the US & Israel tried to do last year with the 12-day war. Iran has been under heavy sanctions for over 4 decades in an attempt to overthrow their government.

It looks like these actions by the US, Israel, and the West have finally woken up most everyone in Iran about how untrustworthy the US really is & how the US keeps wanting to overthrow their government & install a puppet beholden to the US. Pepe expects that the US & Israel will try again to overthrow the Iranian government. When that happens, expect that Iran will unleash very advanced weapons that they haven't used yet. Also expect that Russia & China will fully support Iran, since they can't allow the US to defeat Iran. — RAD)

This interview discusses the situation in Iran following what is described as a failed regime-change operation. According to accounts from inside the country, protests and unrest have subsided, daily life has returned to normal, and internet disruption played a key role in halting chaos. The unrest is portrayed as externally coordinated through disinformation, foreign networks, armed infiltration, and satellite communications, rather than a grassroots movement. Economic pressure via currency destabilization is identified as a trigger, while broader geopolitical motives, intelligence operations, and ongoing external pressure against Iran are analyzed.
