That didn’t take long: Trump’s trade deals already blowing up industries and governments in Asia

Opposition parties in Malaysia and Thailand are outraged at the one-sided trade deals their respective PM's signed with the Trump Administration.

The agreements give Washington priority over mining industry interests, and contain "poison pill" provisions that allow the US to cancel them in case of separate trade deals with third countries.

The language of the deal with Malaysia will likely blow up plans for Chinese companies to invest billions, to develop Malaysia's rare earth metals industries. The agreement gives Washington rights to rare earth metals in Malaysia, who is in advanced talks with China for the equipment and engineers to do the mining and refining.
