Iranian Delegation Leaves Talks With US After Trump’s Threats

(RAD: It is not clear whether the Iranian delegation is still in Switzerland or has left for Iran. I saw a short video clip showing them leaving from the negotiations. Someone else said they returned to their hotel, which they would need to do even if returning to Iran.

Iran's Tasnim news agency, citing an informed source, reported that the Iranian delegation refused to return to the quadrilateral talks following President Trump's threats, though messages continued to be exchanged through Qatari and Pakistani mediators. MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Iranian negotiation team has left the venue for talks with the US team in Switzerland after threats from US President Donald Trump, the Tasnim news agency reported on Sunday, citing a source close to the Iranian team.

The move was made in protest against Trump's threats to launch further strikes against Iran if Tehran failed to persuade pro-Iranian groups in Lebanon to stop "causing trouble."

The United States must be careful in its statements, as the Iranian armed forces are ready to respond to any attacks, Iranian lead negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said.

"They [the US] had better be careful with their statements. Our armed forces are ready to respond. Whatever they say, we will act," he wrote on X.

Meanwhile, a member of the Iranian negotiating team, Hossein Korbanzadeh said that the US-Iran talks will not continue until Israel's military actions in Lebanon are stopped.

"Lebanon is the most discussed topic in the negotiations. If the war in Lebanon does not end, the negotiations will not continue," Korbanzadeh was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.

Technical-level negotiations between Iran and the United States, as well as the mediator countries Pakistan and Qatar, began in the alpine resort of Burgenstock on Sunday behind closed doors. Media reported earlier in the day that the first round of talks had been completed.

Four-way talks in Swtizerland still suspended: report [6-22-2026]

TEHRAN, Jun. 22 (MNA) – Local Iranian media have cited informed sources as saying that the Iran-US mediated talks in Swtizerland are still suspended as mediators try to restore the talks.

Quadripartite talks between Iran, United States, and mediators: Pakistan and Qatar started at Burgenstock resort, launching a 60-day negotiation window under 14-point Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding inked earlier.

An informed source told Tasnim news agency that, "The Iran-US talks in the quadrilateral format began at around 3 p.m. and were suspended for a half-hour break for consultations between the delegations after lasting about an hour and a half."

However, due to Trump’s threatening and insulting remarks in his social media post, the Iranian delegation refused to return to the quadrilateral negotiations.

Despite this, Qatar and Pakistan’s efforts continued and messages were exchanged through mediators.

The mediators’ efforts are still ongoing but have not yet reached conclusion. During the quadrilateral meeting, the Iranian delegation explicitly protested the breaches of commitments, especially 1 one of the memorandum of understanding.

The Iranian delegation also called for the acceleration of the fulfillment of US commitments regarding the release of Iran’s frozen assets and the issuance of Iranian oil export certificates.

Regarding the nuclear issue, the Iranian delegation insisted that the start of nuclear talks was conditional on the implementation of US commitments under paragraphs 1, 4, 10, and 11 in the MoU.
