Michael Yon & L Todd Wood: Panama Is The Key
by CDM [3-15-2025 published].
(Michael Yon has a lot of experience in Panama, the Panama Canal issues, and the jungle between Columbia & Panama that invaders travel through the Darian Gap to eventually reach the Mexican Border with the United States. He also discusses the trade importance of the Panama Canal and how that relates to several other choke points around the world, such as the Suez Canal. What sets Michael Yon apart from other commentators is that he has a military background, has traveled & explored all of these areas, and understands the trade importance of these areas. — RAD)

Panama was created from Columbia for the Panama Canal. Notice that the Panama Canal goes north/south, whereas Panama is essentially a east/west sliver of land.

Notice where the road ends in Panama & where the road is in Columbia. Traveling through the Darian Gap by foot between those two places in the rainforest jungle is dangerous.

It is about 75 miles in a straight line between Chigorodo, Columbia, and Yaviza, Panama, through the Darian Gap. Since there are no roads between those two locations, it is longer and through treacherous rainforest jungle.
