MIT Phisics Professor Theodore Postol, Glenn Diesen: The Secrets of Russia’s Oreshnik Missile
by Glenn Diesen [1-19-2026].
(RAD: This is an excellent discussion, primarily because it cuts through many of the myths about the Oreshnik Missile. For one, it can't penetrate deep underground through multiple layers of reinforcement. On the other hand, because of its high speed & design, it can do a lot of damage to the surface where it vaporizes & the kinetic energy is converted to super hot heat.
It is fired up to about 750km (465miles) before heading down in a nearly vertical path. There is no possible defense system against this hypersonic Oreshnik for a variety of reasons. Even for conventional missiles, Trump's "Golden Dome" is a waste of money and will never work. Of course, he never asked the experts to understand this.
He also explains the type of design needed if you want to penetrate deep underground.
We have too many stupid people at the top level making decisions about things they don't understand & they refuse to get the advise from people who actually understand. Putin is the only adult politician in the room and he is constantly concerned about our President making stupid decisions that could end humanity. — RAD)
MIT Physics Professor and Pentagon advisor Ted Postol outlines the strengths and limitations of the Oreshnik missile, and debunks some of the myths.
